We've reached the 100th day of school this week! Students have also been participating in "I LOVE TO READ WEEK" by dressing up and celebrating how much we love books here at Lockwood School. It sure has been fun!
This month's core value has been loyalty. Students are hearing that loyalty can go a long way in friendships and relationships but also that loyalty can help lead to success.
Perfect attendance awards were handed out to 56 students K-2! Some of those students are in the running for perfect attendance for the year, what an accomplishment! We're working extra hard to remind students about the importance of being at school, everyday, on time, all day! Granted those winter germs sometimes get the best of us and we understand that students do get sick. We are encouraging students to be here if they can be and most importantly, be on time and stay all day.
In classroom guidance we are talking more about Kelso's Choices. Students are learning how to solve problems with their peers on their own. Conflict resolution is an important skill and one that we want all students to be successful at. Kelso's Choices include: Go to another game, talk it out, share and take turns, ignore it, walk away, tell them to stop, apologize, make a deal, and wait and cool off. Encourage your child to use one or more of these strategies the next time they have a tattle about something that they can handle on their own. We're definitely practicing these skills here at school.
With 3rd quarter underway, we are on our way to a great start to the 2nd semester. As always, I appreciate your support as we work together.
